I’m proud to share just some of the exciting developments happening across our community this spring. From new biotech arrivals and programme launches to community events and leadership milestones, there’s a real buzz about the park, and I’d like to invite more businesses and researchers to be part of it.
One of the most exciting areas of activity is within CoLab, our flexible bench space for early-stage life science companies. It’s fantastic to welcome two promising biotech businesses, Clinical Biomics and Nyschey, who’ve chosen to move from London and join our growing innovation hub with more exciting companies set to follow.
CoLab offers more than just lab benches; it really is a supportive, collaborative environment. We provide six months of free rent for eligible startups, free business mentoring through our on-site Barclays Eagle Lab and access to cutting-edge equipment through our partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University.

For founders looking for a soft landing to test their research and grow, it’s an unbeatable starting point. And with Discovery Park being up to 71% more cost-effective than London lab space, it’s a place where your ideas and your investment can go further.
Applications are now open for the next Discovery Spark programme taking place in September/October. This is our flagship growth initiative for early-stage companies in fields from biotech and therapeutics to AI and digital health. It’s designed to take ambitious founders from idea to investor-ready, with expert-led sessions on IP, branding, finance and commercial strategy, bridging the gap between academic research and building a commercially viable business. I encourage any founder looking to fast-track their journey in these areas to apply now via our website.
We’re also continuing to focus on building a strong, connected business community. On 11 June, we’re hosting a business Netwalk around our scenic campus – an informal and relaxed way to meet fellow professionals and make new partnerships.
What’s more, on 26 June, we are opening our doors to the public for the Rediscovery Charity Fashion Show, showcasing pre-loved fashion from our on-site charity shop alongside local supplier stalls. Entry is £6, including a free drink, and all proceeds go to good, local causes. Again, more information about our events can be found on our website.
This season also marks a poignant milestone for us as Dr Martino Picardo steps down as chairman of Discovery Park. Over the past seven years, Martino has played a pivotal role in shaping Discovery Park into the thriving science and innovation hub it is today. His vision and leadership have not only helped us grow into a home for over 180 companies, from dynamic startups to global leaders, but also strengthened our partnerships with local universities.

Martino has worked hard to elevate STEM on academic agendas and create meaningful pathways for future talent. From championing skills development to mentoring emerging founders through our investment fund, Discovery Park Ventures, his legacy will have a lasting impact on both our community and the wider innovation ecosystem. On behalf of our team and wider community, I want to thank Martino for his dedication and wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.
If you’re looking for a new base to grow your science or tech business, we’d love to show you what Discovery Park has to offer. With modern labs, flexible office space, strong connectivity to London and outstanding amenities, including cafés, gyms, free onsite mentoring and investment support, we’re a lot more than just a place to work.
Visit our website www.discovery-park.co.uk to explore our workspaces, join upcoming events or apply to Discovery Spark. We look forward to welcoming you.
