New era begins for Brighton Hotel

Brighton hotel The Oriental Hotel, which closed during the Covid pandemic, is set to reopen under new ownership following its successful marketing by Flude Property Consultants.

The former boutique hotel, located on Oriental Place in Brighton, comprises nine en-suite bedrooms, a bar lounge/reception area and a separate one-bedroom ownerโ€™s flat.

Flude Property Consultants director Will Thomas said: โ€œTransactions in the hotel sector have been challenging since the 2008/2009 banking crisis, largely due to the difficulties buyers face in raising finance.

โ€œAs a result, the sale of closed or โ€˜lifestyleโ€™ businesses has often proved problematic, given they often lack strong or in some cases any trading account information. Therefore, increasingly creative structures to facilitate ownership transitions are needed.

โ€œIn this case, a short-term lease has been agreed, with an initial deposit/premium paid upfront and rental terms established, leading to a defined end date for the eventual completion of the sale.โ€
