A former quarry site on the edge of Maidstone, Kent, with opportunity for residential development, has come to the market through Savills.
The site was formerly a quarry, active from the 19th to the 20th century. In the mid-1960s, it was transformed into a paper recycling plant, which has been closed for a decade.
Now, the site, Tovil Quarry, has been cleared of all buildings and levelled in readiness for development, subject to planning.
Tovil Quarry extends to about 6.2 acres and is in an accessible and convenient location just over a mile from Maidstone centre. The location benefits from excellent road links and three nearby rail stations.
Previously, Tovil Quarry had been granted outline planning permission, as well as Reserved Matters Approval, for 108 dwellings.
To the north of the site, there is a plot of land which has obtained planning permission and has started the development of approximately 250 dwellings. The scheme will be made up of one and two-bedroom apartments, and three and four-bedroom houses.
To the east, the land is owned and used by the Scout Association, and agricultural farmland borders the site to the south and west.
Chris Bell of Savills Sevenoaks Development team said: โTovil Quarry offers an opportunity to acquire a site for a high-quality residential scheme in a prominent town location.โ
The deadline for offers is 19 September 2025, with a guide price of ยฃ3.5m on a subject to planning basis. For more information, click here or contact the South East Development team at Savills Sevenoaks.
