Barratt Homes backs green initiatives with donation to Kent community

Kent Community Foundation has received a £1,500 donation from Barratt Homes to support one of the grant-maker’s priority areas of funding: the environment – helping to fund projects that enrich nature, connect communities with green spaces and promote sustainability.

For over 20 years, Kent Community Foundation has partnered with donors to meet the needs of local communities and create a county where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. The Foundation has distributed nearly £60 million to support thousands of deserving causes and voluntary organisations.

The donation from Barratt Homes will contribute to a pooled fund, managed by the Foundation, designed to bring together individuals and companies who are interested in a more sustainable future for all across Kent and Medway.

Barratt Homes’ donation comes from The Barratt Foundation, the housebuilder’s charity partnership, which supports children, young people and environmental groups.

Alex Dowling, sales and marketing director at Barratt David Wilson Southern Counties, said: “It is really encouraging to see an organisation directly connect local communities with support that they need, and we are proud to be able to help such vital work.

“Kent Community Foundation’s focus on the environment as a priority area of funding, which makes a lasting positive impact on both the county’s natural surroundings and the people who benefit from these essential green spaces.”

Rebecca Wilkinson, funding and events officer at Kent Community Foundation, added: “Our mission to create strong, resilient local communities is made possible through the support we receive from philanthropic organisations, individuals and families.

“We rely on these generous contributions to empower small, local charities and community groups across Kent and Medway who know how to best work with local people to open up opportunities for all. We are thankful to Barratt Homes for this donation, which helps us continue our work.”
