Furley Page rolls out Trainee Solicitor Programme 2026

Graduates interested in a career in the law are encouraged to apply for South East law firm Furley Page‘s new Trainee Solicitor Programme, and the deadline for applications is fast approaching.

Furley Page is taking on three trainee solicitors this year and the firm is currently recruiting for candidates who will start their training in September 2026. Applications must be received by Friday 27 June 2025.

The new-look trainee solicitor programme will offer Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeships, a route to becoming a qualified solicitor that combines practical work experience with studying for the Solicitors Qualifying Exams (SQE).

Partner and head of family law Rayma Collins oversees the training programme at Furley Page. She said: “Training the next generation of solicitors is crucial to the success of any law firm, which is why we have invested the time to develop a training programme that is so highly regarded by our trainees.

“The firm always gives its trainee solicitors real responsibility by allowing them direct contact with our clients and a varied programme that takes in many different areas of the law.

“This year, we are offering an apprenticeship pathway as it offers varied and alternative routes to becoming a solicitor, which is particularly appealing to those who prefer hands-on learning and earning a salary while studying.”

A typical training contract comprises completing four “seats” (areas of the law) over a two-year training period in various legal teams including corporate and commercial, dispute resolution, employment law, real estate, private client, vulnerable client, family law and personal injury.

Trainee solicitors will generally spend six months in each seat with a training supervisor, during which they will gain a wide range of experience and develop their professional skills, laying the foundation for a successful future career in law.

Unless they have already completed the Legal Practice Course, trainees will join as a Graduate Solicitor Apprentice. During their studies, they will gain a wide range of experience, develop their professional skills and undertake both SQE1 and SQE2 examinations.

The firm is also offering a summer work experience scheme for graduates and undergraduates, which will provide successful applicants with a clear insight into the workings of a large regional law firm.

Up to 10 applicants will be given the opportunity to undertake a one-week summer placement with Furley Page commencing Monday 9 June 2025.

Successful applicants will spend one day in different legal teams. The deadline for applications to the summer work experience scheme is Monday 21 April 2025.
