IWD: Female-founded Kent digital marketing community secures £250k investment

Skills of the Future Ltd, a Kent-based community-focused digital publisher and events company, has secured £250,000 in private investment funding to support future growth opportunities with the support of NatWest’s Entrepreneur Accelerator Hub in London.

Skills of the Future Ltd empowers entrepreneurs, students and professionals through 365-day support with peer-to-peer mentoring, access to media events and specialist panels, all with a focus on upskilling to embrace the challenges of tomorrow’s digital environment.

The £250,000 private investment funding will enable founder, Lucy Hall from Maidstone, Kent, to propel the growth of the business, expanding its resource base and growing the team through new jobs and freelance opportunities, many of which she hopes to secure through the Skills of the Future community.

Lucy has been supported by the NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator for the past 11 months. The NatWest Accelerator community supports UK entrepreneurs and empowers them to scale their businesses to the next level, through coaching, a programme of thought leadership and events, access to a network of like-minded peers and full-time use of a modern co-working space.

Lucy said: “As a female founder, it can feel discouraging when the statistics for business investment aren’t in your favour. The NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator Hub has been invaluable in building my confidence and overcoming self-doubt throughout the investment process.

“It’s really opened my eyes to new ways of managing and growing the business, and I’ve learned funding opportunities that I never thought were possible.”

Lucy is a strong advocate for female founders within the business community, which is testimony to the success of Skills of the Future Ltd’s female-focused platform, Digital Women.

The peer-to-peer learning community provides opportunity to access digital learning content, connect with like-minded women and navigate the challenges of an ever-evolving digital landscape.

Luke Pamflett, Accelerator community manager at NatWest, said “We are huge advocates of entrepreneurial talent in London and the South East, as well as across the UK.

“The Entrepreneur Accelerator Hub empowers entrepreneurs to scale their business to the next level, through one-to-one coaching, thought leadership events and specialist expertise.

“Skills of the Future Ltd is one of the many success stories from the programme. It has been amazing to see Lucy’s unwavering passion and enthusiasm for business. We’re excited to see what the future holds for her.”
