Local housebuilder invests over £800,000 in Deal community

Local housebuilder David Wilson Homes has recently confirmed its Section 106 agreement with Dover District Council (DDC), confirming that a total of £805,084 will be directly invested into the Sholden area.

This funding has been agreed alongside works at David Wilson Kent’s new development in Sholden, Sholden Meadows, launching in early 2025.

The money pledged by David Wilson Kent is set to be divided across multiple sections of the local economy, uplifting the Sholden area in 2025 and beyond.

A significant portion of the S106 agreement is being allocated towards local educational and social services investments through payments towards Secondary education, Special Educational Needs education, Community Learning, Youth Services and Library contributions.

The agreement also sees a sizable amount of this funding going directly into local health and transport services through an NHS contribution, Bus Stop contribution and an investment into Outdoor Sports within the area.

Alongside its contributions towards local services, David Wilson Kent will also be delivering 174 homes, of which 30% will be affordable. This guarantees that a mixture of affordable rent and intermediate tenures will be on offer at Sholden Meadows for members of the Kent community who would otherwise be unable to get onto the property ladder.

Natalie Perry, sales and marketing director for David Wilson Kent, said: “David Wilson Kent takes pride in being proactive members in the local communities we build in.

“Building a home goes beyond work at our development sites; David Wilson Kent wants future residents to settle into these communities with ease.

“By investing in local services, we hope to help future residents and existing members of the community to flourish together for years to come.

“Over the next few years, we will continue to work with a diverse range of community groups across Sholden, as well as investing in the surrounding infrastructure.”

Located in Sholden village, Sholden Meadows is surrounded by rolling countryside, with beautiful coastal views only a short drive away. It is within walking distance of the local Primary school, cricket and hockey clubs and a village pub.

Travelling further out, many popular towns and cities, including Deal, Sandwich and Folkstone, are easily accessible by car and train, and the development is in good proximity to the A2, allowing residents to drive to both Dover and Canterbury in under an hour.
