Pureprint Group acquires Ashford Colour Press from administration

East Sussex-based Pureprint Group has acquired Ashford Colour Press from administration, strengthening the company’s position in the print and publishing sector by extending its capabilities into inkjet printing and enhancing its digital and on-demand print solutions.

The acquisition secures Ashford Colour Press’s factory in Gosport, Hampshire, with all jobs retained as part of the deal. Pureprint plans to reconfigure the site to focus on Ashford’s advanced inkjet and digital print capabilities.

Ashford’s client base will benefit from a greatly expanded product and service offering, while Pureprint’s existing clients will also benefit from the group’s enhanced manufacturing capabilities at the Gosport site, particularly in inkjet and on-demand printing.

Founded over 40 years ago, Ashford Colour has established a strong reputation for serving the academic, educational and publishing sectors, alongside diverse commercial clients.

Pureprint Group CEO Mark Handford said: “Ashford is a fantastic addition to the Pureprint family. We’ve long admired its expertise, particularly in inkjet and on-demand printing, and we’re excited to combine this with our innovative approach to print and sustainability.

“This acquisition allows us to broaden our client base and enhance our offerings for key sectors while securing Ashford’s talented and dedicated team.”

The acquisition, completed through a new subsidiary, Ashford Colour Limited (Company Number 16078295), underscores Pureprint’s commitment to sustainable growth, innovation and supporting the evolving needs of its clients across a broad selection of markets.

This deal, and Pureprint’s move into inkjet, is the latest step in the group’s ongoing acquisition strategy to strengthen its print and marketing offering while targeting growth across key sectors.

Over the last decade, Pureprint has made regular acquisitions, expanding the group’s expertise into large format, direct mail, packaging, technology and creative services.
