A group of local businesswomen have assumed ownership of Rocking Horse on Billingshurst High Street in Sussex, unveiling a shopping emporium designed to cater to individuals of all ages.
The new venture is set to open its doors on Saturday 2 November, promising an extensive selection of products crafted by a diverse array of small and micro-businesses.
The collective comprises Sussex entrepreneurs Nikki Bristo, Jean Farnes, Denise Heywood, Debbie Jannels, Nikki Oak, Michelle Pratt and Stacey Puddick Taylor, who connected over three years ago through a local small business networking group.
Between them, they operate businesses including Mojo Craft Creations, ‘Jean’ious Designs, Nini’s Boutique Reflections of Home, Janorah Handcrafted, Just Frankies, Fruitology UK, Annie George’s Fudge, and Annie George’s Graphics.
The emporium will feature a wide variety of products, including crochet items, pebble art, book folds and decorations, homewares, small gifts, handmade bags and scrunchies, clothing and accessories, fruit infusions, sweets, fudge, and personalised gifts, among others.
The shop will showcase items from other small businesses across Sussex and beyond, inviting further collaboration from local artisans.
Denise said: “We’ve all always dreamed of having our own shop, so when the chance to take over the reins at Rocking Horse came up, it was a total no-brainer for us.
“We’re excited to start welcoming customers in and also to help provide the platform for other small and micro-businesses that really helped us when we got started.”
Jean added: “We know that Rocking Horse has been a real staple for people looking to buy something special in Billingshurst for some time, and we want to build on everything the previous owner/tenant has done to create something really special for local shoppers.”
Rocking Horse is based across three rooms. It can be found at 45 High Street, Billingshurst, RH14 9PP.
