Setfords named top hirer of all UK law firms

Platform law firm Setfords, headquartered in London, Guildford and Horsham, has emerged as the foremost hirer among all law firms in the UK, according to research conducted by Codex Edge.

The UK Top 100 law firm, boasting a roster of nearly 500 expert lawyers nationwide, welcomed 141 qualified lawyers into its legal fold last year.

This latest research underscores a notable shift within the legal services landscape, with Setfords’ adoption of the platform law model “reshaping” conventional paradigms of legal service delivery.

Despite the relative newness of this model, Setfords’ continued and rapid growth is a testament to the strength of this new way of working.

Chris Hume, director of Codex Edge, said: “The findings in our report clearly demonstrate that the platform model continues to thrive and is a growing and increasingly significant part of the UK legal landscape.

“We would like to congratulate Setfords on being the number one firm overall by UK hires in 2023 and maintaining their position as the number one Platform Law firm by headcount in the UK.

“It really is remarkable that three of the top 10 UK law firms by hiring numbers were Platform Firms and says a lot about the enduring attraction of the model to entrepreneurial lawyers.”

Guy Setford, CEO of Setfords, added: “It’s really positive to see the continued growth of the platform law model. We’ve always been dedicated to driving innovation in legal service delivery.

“Being named the top hiring firm of any law firm in the UK is truly a momentous occasion for us. It just shows that this model not only works but is fast becoming the first choice for many lawyers.”
