Brachers advises on the sale of Defluo Plumbing and Drainage to Kanalservice Group

Brachers’ Corporate team has advised the shareholders of London-based Defluo Plumbing and Drainage (Defluo) on its successful sale to Kanalservice Holding AG (Kanalservice Group).

Defluo was founded by Joe Kelly in 2008 with Scott Fixter joining in 2009 as COO. Since then, Defluo has grown and established itself as one of the leading providers of commercial plumbing, drainage and building works in the UK.

Kanalservice Group is a leading and fast-growing organisation in Europe in the field of value maintenance of underground infrastructure and roads, primarily in Switzerland and Germany. The deal marks Kanalservice Group’s entry into the UK market.

Joe Kelly and Scott Fixter will continue to lead Defluo’s business and growth, including overseeing its recent successful move to new, purpose-equipped offices in Sidcup.

The Brachers transaction team was led by corporate partner Matt Simmonds and also included corporate partner Dan King, corporate solicitor Kieron Cummins and employment senior associate Lisa Rothon.

Dave Ellis, Nick Parrett and Matt Buxton of Azets provided corporate finance advice to the shareholders of Defluo. Shoosmith acted for Kanalservice Group.

Joe Kelly, managing director of Defluo Plumbing and Drainage, said: “I am excited to announce the sale of Defluo to Kanalservice Group. Scott and I are excited to work with Kanalservice Group team going forward. We have undoubtedly found the right partner for the continued growth of our business.

“I want to personally thank all our advisors for their help and guidance during the transaction process. Now that the transaction has been completed, I can see what a huge effort it was for the team. I am extremely grateful for their hard work and expertise.

“In particular, I would like to thank Matt Simmonds and his team at Brachers for their help on the legal side of the deal. Matt was there for us night and day to ensure that we fully understood the legal documents and helped manage the sale to a successful completion. I am incredibly grateful to Matt and his team. I would not hesitate to recommend them.”

Matt Simmonds, corporate partner, Brachers, said: “I am delighted for Joe, Scott and the team at Defluo on their success. I have known Joe and Scott for almost 15 years since Joe established Defluo in 2008.

“It has been amazing to see their growth and continuing success during that time. I am so pleased for them and their families on the successful sale.

“Congratulations also to the team at Kanalservice Group, who have exciting plans to grow the Defluo business still further with Joe and Scott. It will be exciting for us to continue to see that ongoing success.”
