Haynes Ford expands into Canterbury

Haynes Ford, often still known by its previous trading name Haynes of Maidstone, has taken on the full Ford sales franchise rights for most of East Kent and will operate from its new base in the heart of Canterbury, where it has opened a new Ford Dealership.

When Henry Ford set up Ford of Britain, Haynes was the first Ford main dealer to be appointed in Kent in 1911, and from then, started to distribute Fordโ€™s range of cars, commercial vehicles, trucks and agricultural farm machinery.

Over the years, Haynesโ€™s Ford car and commercial business has gone on from strength to strength, winning numerous awards for customer satisfaction. Haynes has also significantly expanded its premises in Maidstone, becoming in 2016 a โ€˜FordStoreโ€™, a flagship Ford Sales and Service Centre, able to sell and service the full range of Ford cars, commercial vehicles, performance vehicles and, more recently, electric vehicles.

The decision to now expand into Canterbury follows the expansion of the aftersales side of the Ford business into Ashford, where the company has an Authorised Ford Commercial Vehicle Service Centre.

This wider expansion into East Kent was also a natural progression for the company, with both the agricultural and truck divisions of Haynes already having a significant presence in the area with depots based at Birchington, Great Chart and Ashford, and a โ€˜Ford Parts Plusโ€™ business already well known with many companies in the area.

The new Haynes Ford Dealership on Westminster Road in Canterbury features Fordโ€™s full range of both new cars and commercial vehicles, with the newly refurbished service area able to repair both cars and vans with a fully trained team of manufacturer-trained technicians who are also able to carry out MOTs on site.

The car and commercial sales teams are also all fully FCA trained, having completed relevant training programmes, and can advise fully on all aspects of the purchase process.

Andrew Haynes, chairman and CEO, and the sixth generation of the family to lead the business, said: โ€œWe are very excited to be able to be operating our new dealership in Canterbury. We have run businesses in East Kent for many years and as one of Fordโ€™s longest-established dealerships in the UK and the first to be appointed in Kent, it is wonderful to be able to expand our Haynes Ford brand more into this area.

โ€œThe new Canterbury addition to the Haynes portfolio will allow us to sell and service Ford products and represent Ford Motor Company throughout most of East and Central Kent.

โ€œWe are very much looking forward to this new opportunity and to welcoming customers to our new Canterbury site.โ€
