Kent PR and marketing agency shortlisted for national care award

Kent-based Sharp Minds Communications has made the final five in the ‘Best Care Marketing Team’ category in the Leaders in Care Awards 2024.

Sharp Minds Communications has supported the care sector for a decade. Since March 2024, it has provided PR expertise for the UK’s largest later-life care directory, Autumna.

In less than six months, Sharp Minds has got Autumna in front of a digital audience of more than 200m, establishing it as a data-driven authority on developments within social care, a leading innovator in devising imaginative, effective solutions, and a go-to expert sector commentator.

Sharp Minds has secured coverage in Tier 1 national media, Tier 1 trade press, broadcast and local media around the country through imaginative, strategic campaigns and effective news-hijacking.

The culmination has been a campaign designed to highlight the failings of the hospital discharge system as a platform to introduce Autumna’s digital Dashboard for Accelerated Discharge (DAD) as a unique solution for finding appropriate care options for elderly people stuck in hospital – quickly. This campaign alone has secured a digital audience of more than 120 million.

The report was covered by The Times, The Independent, The Standard, BBC, ITV, Tier 1 trade press and more than 100 local newspapers around the country, creating new focus on the failing hospital discharge system.

Debbie Harris, managing director of Autumna, said: “Sharp Minds’ support has enabled Autumna to shine a spotlight on and create national debate about the failings of the current hospital discharge system and the impact this is having on elderly patients, the NHS and social care providers.

“This would not have been possible without their exceptional PR expertise, sector intelligence and clear strategic thinking.

“This helped shape everything, from identifying the intelligence gap in the market for creating original thought leadership that could command attention through to rigorous research to provide the context for journalists, politicians and the public to understand why this is such an important matter for multiple stakeholder communities.”

Sharp Minds will find out if it has taken the title at the black-tie awards ceremony at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham on Tuesday 8 October.
